The Cambridgeshire-based fresh salad and vegetable grower G’s Fresh has its eye on a myriad of other markets to push the upcoming superfood including Asia, the United Arab Emirates and South Africa.

The idea behind Heathrow’s SME Travel Grant is to provide 20 small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the finances they need to explore and develop export opportunities through trade missions, shows, market research and more.

The Love Beets brand – which has been supplying major UK retailers for more than 25 years – has been awarded the grant to support its global ventures in the new markets to try to replicate the success it has had stateside.

The company is looking to launch the full Love Beets product range into South Africa, along with creating a strong interest in Asia and the Middle East.

It says that Heathrow is a key transport route for the firm which is also exploring new opportunities and to broaden the category through innovation and development within the fresh beetroot market.

“We’re delighted Love Beets has won the Heathrow SME Travel Grant to help us expand our business into new global markets. From a small local beetroot brand based in the UK, Love Beets has become a well-established brand in the United States and is now looking further afield,” said David Wagstaff, head of global brands at G Fresh.

“The increasing global interest in beetroot means we are primed to expand our remit into the dynamic South Africa market, as well as exploring links in the United Arab Emirates and Asia.

“With our market leading production knowledge and technology, we driving innovation to meet this growing demand in both the UK and now overseas.”
