The Fresh Produce Consortium has launched two stunning websites to help showcase and bring together its signature FPC Future and FPC Careers events happening in November.
Easily navigable and featuring two prominent produce colors – green and orange – the sites offer a quick way for those interested in the produce industry to be able to register for the dual shows at the East Of England Arena and Events Centre in Peterborough.
The rise of technological advances in fresh produce are bringing newfound opportunities to the next generation of workers, something the FPC is keenly aware of as it tries to get them interested in the sector.
“To drive forward the industry’s ambitious plans for the future, it is fundamental that we attract the very best candidates,” CEO Nigel Jenney said. “We are a diverse industry and there are a multitude of opportunities available for every career choice. By co-locating FPC Future and FPC Careers we will connect leading employers with the best and brightest jobseekers.”
The Careers site is a one-stop shop for prospective or current workers who want to explore their possibilities in fresh produce or the range of related fields such as the wholesale sector, catering, transportation and logistics and supermarket leadership. Young registrants will be able to attend for free and get the chance to be mentored one-on-one with industry leaders, receive guidance on CV development, and get a free professional headshot. The FPC said it is “working in collaboration with colleges and universities across the UK to invite undergraduates and postgraduates from all academic disciplines to meet with exhibitors and specialised recruitment agencies.”
Of course, the main attraction is the co-located FPC Future event, which will feature sessions, workshops and vast networking opportunities for those interested in the fresh produce and flower industries. FPC said it is taking a cue from “the Government’s Food Strategy, published last week, which plans to drive innovation and harness pioneering technology in the UK farming sector in order to help increase domestic production, spread jobs and grow the economy.”
In order to get there, these events will address both the impacts of global threats and potential solutions, led by new technology.
“The fallout from the pandemic, coupled with the many challenges brought about by Brexit, will continue to affect our supply chains unless we can find solutions now,” FPC CEO Nigel Jenney said. “FPC Future will showcase all that is new right now, and explore what the future promises, such as the rapidly expanding vertical farming industry. Visitors will be able to see how new technologies can help them become more efficient, increase productivity and assist their workforce.”
Those interested in attending can go to fpcfuture.co.uk and/or fpccareers.co.uk to register your place.
