More than 90 percent of the exhibition space has been filled for Fruit Attraction, which will take place in Madrid at IFEMA from October 8 to 10.

The event is one of two signature worldwide conventions for fresh produce industry leaders that will take place late in the year. The New York Produce Show and Conference, the largest produce buying event in North America, will happen on Dec. 10-12 in Manhattan.

More than 100,000 attendees from 2,000 companies and 55 nations are expected to attend Fruit Attraction in Spain, an increase of nearly 40% from last year’s event.

A theme that will be of particular interest to those in the UK will be the focus on avocados. Organisers are promising ”several initiatives around this superfood” given its success in Spain in recent years.

“In addition to the Avocado from Spain Congress, the trade fair will be hosting other activities, such as a league in which students from Spanish hotel and catering schools will compete in a show cooking session led by Daniel del Toro, as well as different workshops and demonstrations,” organisers noted in their release.

  • Fresh Produce, which will showcase a wide variety of horticultural products
  • Auxiliary Industry, which brings together the entire value chain of the industry
  • Fresh Food Logistics, the space for logistics, transport and cold chain management for foodstuffs and which has gained serious traction in the UK recently after the latest Logistics UK report.
  • The Innovation Hub and Fruit Next, areas dedicated to innovation and new business developments in the industry.
  • Innova&Tech, the new area that will bring together the Biotech Attraction and Smart Agro sectors, providing a space for companies focused on innovation, research and technological development in plant genomics.

Fruit Attraction also will be hosting the congresses Grape Attraction, Biofruit Congress and Fresh Food Logistics The Summit.

Organizers also have planned several focused events within Fruit Attraction that can help those looking to boost sales, promotion, development, and growth. That includes its International Buyers Programme, which will focus on emerging trade in China and Saudi Arabia.
