All non-management colleagues and first-level managers at the John Lewis Partnership who have worked from 12 April on will be earning a bonus of £25 for each week worked in May and June, or £200 in total, according to the company.
“Partners have made significant sacrifices to ensure that we are able to continue to serve and support our customers,” said Sharon White, Chairman of the John Lewis Partnership. “The measures that we have announced today are in recognition of their hard work and commitment and are part of a wider package of support available to help partners during this extraordinary time.
“I want to extend my continued thanks to every partner. It is a privilege to be their chairman.”
The company says the payment applies to all front-line workers in Waitrose shops and John Lewis online. This follows a 2% bonus given in March.
The John Lewis Partnership also said it would increase the discount rate for all colleagues who shop in Waitrose stores from 15% to %25 before becoming a permanent discount of 20%.
This announcement follows the company’s recent introduction of a number of measures designed to support their wellbeing, including a support fund to aid those who are facing additional costs as a result of the pandemic; such as child-care costs. Colleagues are also being offered free meals at work.
