Enzo Di Marino, Wealmoor’s New Product Development Chef

Wealmoor, the UK-based grower-distributor of tropical and speciality fruits and vegetables from around the world, will sponsor the exclusive Media Masterclass at The London Produce Show and Conference (LPS) next month, which takes place on June 5-7, 2019, at the Grosvenor House, a 5-star JW Marriott hotel on London’s iconic Park Lane.

Wealmoor will present a ‘Papaya Extravaganza’ to celebrate and champion the virtues of the increasingly popular papaya, a superfood renowned for its delicate and fragrant flavour, nutritional benefits and versatility of use in healthy breakfasts, starters, mains or desserts.

Hannah Gorvin, Chief Marketing Officer for The London Produce Show and Conference, comments: “Via an interactive and information-packed experience, Wealmoor’s Head of Fruit, Paul Tilbury, and its New Product Development Chef, Enzo Di Marino, will engage directly with food influencers, bloggers, writers and consumer, trade and national press members to reveal why the papaya – one of the most versatile and healthy fruits – is striking a chord with UK consumers.”

Tilbury, Head of Fruit at Wealmoor, continues: “Named ‘the fruit of the angels’ by Christopher Columbus because of its great taste, and described as one of the ‘bare necessities of life’, according to Baloo from The Jungle Book, the papaya has even proved beneficial to Harrison Ford who was apparently injected with the papaya enzyme for the treatment of a spinal injury after riding an elephant in Sri Lanka! Papayas are a rich source of nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins C, A, E and K, and enzymes that hold powerful health benefits for the human body.

Following a champagne reception in the Jeeves Suite, the media will listen to a brief introduction from Wealmoor’s CEO, Avnish Malde, followed by Tilbury, who will give a special talk about papayas, their characteristics and the latest market trends. Tilbury will be available for an exclusive question-and-answer session with the press immediately after his presentation.

Next, Di Marino will unveil the soft launch of Wealmoor’s brand-new healthy snacks range via a special tasting experience. He also will give a live demonstration of his latest recipes showcasing papayas in the Chef Demonstration Kitchen, located in the Rink Bar of the Great Room. Here, the media will have the unique opportunity to watch, sample and discuss the creations made by Di Marino, as well as listen to and interact with the chef himself, and take away his recipe cards.

“Enzo will take the media on a delicious journey with papayas, and show his magic by utilising papayas in various recipes,” says Tilbury. “He will also explain the powerful health benefits of this superfood.”

According to Wealmoor, papayas pair well with yoghurt, berries, oats and nuts for a healthy breakfast. Alternatively, the pulp of the papaya can be blended with vanilla ice-cream, and served with cassis as a classic Brazilian Crème de Papaya.

Di Marino, whose mantra is ‘Cooking is the art of eating’, has been cooking since his childhood. He inherited his talent and love of food from his mother, who is also a chef, and has been sharing his knowledge about plant-based cuisines throughout various roles within the food industry.

Wealmoor is an established, forward-thinking, family-owned, UK-based business with over 40 years of experience.
